Scores of schoolchildren were injured in a crash involving a bakkie and a minibus taxi on the R554 in Rondebult, Boksburg, on Tuesday morning.
Emergency services said the pupils were travelling in the taxi when it collided with a bakkie.
According to authorities, all injured occupants were stabilised on the scene before being transported to various hospitals for further treatment.
City of Ekurhuleni spokesperson Tikkie Macdonald said emergency teams responded swiftly.
“The impact resulted in multiple casualties, with injuries ranging from critical to minor. Firefighters and paramedics were on scene within minutes to secure the area. Remarkably, despite the severity of the collision, no fatalities were reported at the scene,” Macdonald said.
She urged motorists to exercise caution on the roads, particularly during peak hours when many children are being transported to and from school.
